Yesterday in WPL Delhi Capitals faced UP Warriorz and beat them mercilessly by 9 wickets. First Radha Yadav’s firki and then Shefali Verma’s and Captain Meg Lanning’s brutal batting kicked UPW out of the game. DC not only gained two important points after loosing first game but also grabed huge runrate which will be beneficial for them in this league.
DC won the toss and elected to bowl first at chinnaswamy stadium which turned out to be a very good decision as their bowler did their job. In the powerplay of first 6 overs UPW scored only 21 runs with loss of 3 wickets. UPW kept loosing wickets after every 2 or 3 overs. Only birthday girl Shweta sherawat showed the determination to stay on the pitch. She kept running scoreboard slowly and because of her 45runs out of 42 UPW somehow reached to 119 runs.
Radha Yadav from DC took 4 wickets in her 4 over and spent only 20 runs whereas Marizanne kapp took 3 out of 4 overs and spent only 5 runs. In the second inning Shefali took the charge and batted like viru. She and Meg Lanning thrashed UPW’s bowlers all over the park. Shefali scored 64(43) with 6 fours and 4 sixes and Meg lanning scored 51(43) with 6 fours. Marizanne kapp was awarded as player of the match for her brilliant bowling in the powerplay.
