Today We are going to talk about one of the most consistantly successful IPL Team of all time Mumbai Indians. Mumbai has won 5 IPL titles in 16 seasons which is equal to CSK. Here are few more records which are need to be recognised.
1) Biggest Win Margin
There are very less chances in T20 cricket that any Team can win by 100 or upto runs but MI once registered the biggest win in IPL history. In the 45th match of 2017 IPL season Mumbai Indians crushed Delhi Daredevils by massive margin of 146 runs. MI scored 212 runs in that match and in response DD could make only 66 runs.
2) Best Bowling Figure
In T20 cricket Bowlers usualy doesn’t want to defend low total such as below 150 because they know despite of being bowled all the good overs one bad over of 15-20 runs can turn the match to chasing side but in IPL 2019 Mi scored only 137 runs in first inning vs Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad. SRH was very happy that they restrict MI below 140 but they were unaware of the storm of Alzari Joseph. Joseph destroyed SRH batting like Tsunami. Joseph picked 6 wickets in that match and given only 12 runs in his spell. This figure is the best bowling figure of IPL.
3) Fastest Run Chase
When you think about fastest run chase then you think about 8-10 overs but MI has the record of fastest run chase in just 5.3 overs vs KKR in 2008. In that match MI restricted KKR for just 67 runs. All the MI bowlers played as a unit in Sachin’s Captaincy and Pollock was best among them. Shaun Pollock picked 3 wickets for just 12 runs. In response MI chased this total in just 5.3 overs.
4) Unbeaten at Chepauk for 10 years
The MI versus CSK rivalry has been one of the best rivalry of all time in IPL because they have also faced each other in final multiple times and have also won equal no. of IPL trophy which is 5 times. It is very hard to beat CSK at their den but only MI have that guts who beat CSK again and again for 10 years at Chepauk. From 2011 ro 2021 MI beat CSK for 10 years. In IPL 2021 when RCB and MI came face to face then this streak came to an end.
5) Most matches in IPL
Mumbai Indians have played most no. of matches of IPL in 16 years. MI have played 247 matches from 2008 to 2023 and won 138 of them. MI have also the most no. of winning record currently but behind them there is CSK who have the best winning percentage of 58.2% and CSK won 135 matches out of 225 matches. CSK was banned for 2 years, otherwise this record of most matches would have definitely gone with CSK.
